Tango on Monday, December 25,
Post Scriptum.

And it was so good that we ended up on the stage!

Tango on Monday, December 25.

There is no Tango on January 1. So we are going to celebrate all holidays this coming Monday. Not everyone can come, so we will do whatever is best for the group. Last time we have learned how to put everything in a dance, so, please, let us have a  little show on January 8, our next lesson. Let each couple make a little dance. Not much, one little circle. That should be fun!

So, the schedule is as usual, 7:30 - beginners class, 8:20 - intermediate class.

If you are interested in Tango music, there is a page where all tango orchestras are listed: http://www.virtuar.com/tango/articles/2006/orchestras.htm. There you can find some tips for starting your tango music collection.

Out of recent videos: http://www.virtuar.com/tango/linkblog.htm, this one is especially good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIk7fW4IWKM - Jorge Dispari & La Turca

Happy Holidays !

Tango on Monday, December 18.

We've learned quite a lot recently. Let us put it all in the dance. How to start the dance, how to develop the dance to make it interesting, and how a Tango dance ends.

A merchant from a nearby dancer's supplies store "Dancer De Jour" visited us and invited you to his store. You can check it for tango shoes. Ladies shoes for dancing tango should be very strong with closed toe and enveloping back. Sole for women's and men's shoes must be leather, but not rubber. Ballroom sole is good.

We will have both lessons in the Auditorium. So 7:30 - beginners class, 8:20 - intermediate class.

Tango on Monday, December 11.

From what we did with Ocho Cortado, it is good time to get to a popular and useful figure: instead of Cortado we will go into a real, full Forward Ocho and then in cross. Practicing these two variations is a good way to make your dance more subtle and perfect.

Tango on Monday, December 4. One Year Anniversary !!!

Yes. For the first time we came to this place on December 5, 2005. Let us celebrate! I'll bring a bottle of campaign.

About the lesson. We will learn Ocho Cortado itself now, approaching it from a simple pattern. We quickly get through last 3 milonga patterns to recall them, and I hope through one more simple figure from Ruben's workshops: crossing, crossing, crossing.

We will have both lessons at Auditorium ! So 7:30 - beginners class, 8:20 - intermediate class.

Hope to dance with you all after the lesson !

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Our Ruben's workshops were quite a success. Thank you everyone participated, I am sure I express everyone's opinion that they were excellent. The next lesson on November 27 we will review the material. We will have more time to emphasize how to lead and follow the steps.

Also, we will try to make both lessons in the same place: Auditorium. So come right there for 7:30 lesson and for 8:20 lesson. Practica will be there too. I'll put a note on the door of Studio C.

Special Announcement. Today !!!

We have the first Argentinean guest in our club !

An Argentine Tango teacher and historian ( a real one ! ) Ruben Milonga will be teaching at our club on November 20 in the Auditorium. Teressa will assist. There are going to be two workshops: "Very simple milonga" and an advanced one "How to dance with D'Arienzo music" ( D'Arienzo was the most popular tango orchestra leader in 1930s ). More details here and in our e-mails. Igor personally knows well and have learned from Ruben. It is an honor for us to organize lessons with the master of classical tango styles. Please, tell about it and invite your tango friends.

Ruben was dancing tango when we were not born yet. He knows it all ! You can ask him questions and get the answers as if you are reading encyclopedia of Tango. Even more..

November 13

8:20 - Review of the Back and Forward Ochos in the Studio C;

At 7:30 a beginners lesson in the Auditorium.

Today I was watching "Dancing Lady", a Hollywood movie of 1933 with Joan Crawford. They had there some nice social dancing, but when I saw her walking down the street chasing Clark Gable ( or his character ), it was just like tango steps ! So, put on your familiar 1930s outfit: nice dress or suit and go..

November 6

This time we will concentrate on Forward Ochos, and will review the Back Ochos figure which we have polished during the previous lesson. These topics are very important for tango dance, bring good shoes! You can get them at http://bdsweb.ballroom.com/bdsmall.htm in Campbell, for example.

There was talk about where to dance tango in Bay Area. We do encourage you to come to one of the real tango dancing places ( milongas ) and experience the atmosphere and to see the real dancing crowd. Here is the list of the best San Francisco tango clubs: http://www.virtuar.com/tango/where.htm  ( sorry, all the best is in San Francisco ).

October 30, 2006

The beginner's lesson in the Auditorium at 7:30pm ! Igor has got the key ! Please, come to learn basics.

A regular intermediate lesson in Studio C at 8:20. The topic is the smoothness of steps and back ochos led and performed. We'd like to work a little on forward ochos too.

October 23, 2006,

Since the next Monday we will have special time, a special lesson for Tango-beginners starting at 7:30. It is a good chance to start the dance, as well as to review important things: tango walks, spirit of the dance, very basic figures, ochos. New people should feel themselves more comfortable there. We've gained some experience and think we can introduce them to the dance faster. Yes, it is a good chance! If you took beginners classes somewhere else, we greatly encourage you to take our beginners classes. We do tell and practice there a lot of very important things: "how to step like in tango",  "how to lead and to be lead well", "what is the simplest tango dance", and many other things...

The place is still to be defined, but for now we will make it in the Auditorium ( see the map on the site: www.virtuar.com/jcc/ ). It is closer to Middlefield road. A very large room! Bring slippery, leather shoes !

"More advanced", already intermediate Tango lesson will start as usual at 8:15-8:20 and will last till 9:30 in our usual place in the Studio C. We'll see what we can do the best this time. After the lesson - practica at 9:30.

People are welcome to come to both classes ( and encouraged ). Price is the same $10 ( for both ).

October 19, 2006

There going to be an extra tango lesson this Thursday. Main topic is the same like this Monday: going deeper into tango rhythm. What it is, how it is different from other music, and how to dance it. The lesson was very good. Someone said that it was an excellent musicality lesson. Also we have touched the basic sacada in the line movement. If we have time left (and strength) we can do something more. Igor will conduct the lesson at 8pm.
October 16, 2006,

Let us see what we can do. We are inclining toward rhythmical things: rhythmic variations of some familiar figures, and a new simple figure.

October 9, 2006, a Monday lesson

Let us continue with Ocho-Cortado class of figures. And let us add one more step to Giro-Caminado to the right. As a beginner's exercise, let us see how a lady should step when a man steps backward..

These are the latest tango video links: Andres Laza Moreno y Samantha Dispari Tango. Three more in one clip. The second dance is a Milonga. All three are great.

* * *
Well, we did not do it. Later. We had another excellent lesson!

October 5, this Thursday! 2006

We will have an extra lesson this Thursday, to review the material of the last 2 Mondays: Giro-Caminado turn to the right, and left turn in progression.

It starts at 8pm. Igor will conduct the lesson.

October 2, 2006

Yes. Turn ( Giro-Caminado ) to the right is difficult. At least all our women can do it very nicely now ( providing good lead :)).

We will come back to Turns. This time let us make something much more simple: turns in progression.

Also we should continue diving into visually very simple, but internally very complex and reach, and one of the most important figures of tango: Ocho Cortado.

September 25

Last time we have learned a simple turn to the left ( and we will revise it ), now it is logical to learn a simple turn to the right. Also, let us see if we can make some transition walks in preparation to ocho-cortado.

Here are some new video links:

Meet Julio Balmaceda and Corina de la Rosa. Tango Vals ; Tango ; One more tango ; Former Nuevo ( and it very shows ) dancers dance now in a classical style.

Now another couple. Slow slow milonga. Watch the rhythm! JORGE DISPARI y LA TURCA - milonga ; Here they dance Tango ; One more . This is Salon of 20s style.

So, as usual, Lesson starts at 8:15. Come at 8 for a warm-up. Welcome!

September 21

We will have an extra tango lesson this Thursday to review
"10 Basic Figures of Tango and Milonga",
And
"Combine two basic figures into a left turn".

It is exactly the same material. Come to revise!
The lesson starts at 8 PM at our Studio C place.

The price is $10.

Igor and Teressa

September 18

The topic of the next Monday lesson: "Combine 2 basic figures into a simple left turn around". Since we have practiced these 2 figures, and we will do it more, the combination into 360 degree turn should be magical. We'll see.

Also, Igor and Teressa are conducting 2 workshops this Sunday September 17 at Steppin Out dance studio in Sunnyvale. The info also is on the Igor's tango home page http://www.virtuar.com/tango/index.htm . The workshops are covering the same material ( almost ) like we have learned about back and forward ochos, and basic principles of tango. Come to revise. There will be one new original figure introduced.

By a coincidence, we both have our birthdays this week. So, there will be celebration of the combination this Monday. A cake and a drink are provided ! Bring your own munches to impress ! Birthday dance is reserved.

New videos on-line: Tango Vals danced in the sweet classical manner: Matteo and Patricia Tango Vals. No sweat guys, no sweat! Another Slow Slow Tango: Claudia Codega & Esteban Moreno. Very simple.

Lesson starts at 8:15. Come at 8 for a warm-up. Welcome!

September 11

We had a nice workshop last time: "Structure, Communication, and Energy principles of Tango".

So far, on intermediate level we know how to walk forward and side ( promenade ), make forward ochos, and touched the principles of lead & follow, energy exchange, and quality steps. I hope we remember quite a lot from previous beginner's lessons.

Let us make the next lesson: "10 basic figures for Tango and Milonga". Let us see how far we can go. I think we can make it: it starts with the simplest figure, which is going to be morphed step by step. Essentially, it is about how we can combine simple steps together, a way of making interesting figures.  But all figures are really important and popular figures of Tango.

Recently we have discovered majesticJavier Rodriguez and Andrea Misse dance Tango !
URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bqtm_mpxAok&mode=related&search=

There are several examples of their dance on the page. Like this: Pugliese Tango In Buenos Aires! This is a pretty fast style, something which I would call "Orillero in close embrace". It is the style danced in 1930s and is a marriage between gorgeous French Salon style and the peppery street Orillero style: this way Orillero made its path to the polished salon floors. The style becomes more and more popular between Buenos Aires talented young couples.

Another one: JAVIER & GERALDINE Tango - simple and educational.

Lesson starts at 8:15. It looks like the room is busy again until 7:45, you can come at that time to have several minutes for a warm-up. Welcome!

A famous modern-style teacher comes to San Francisco Bay Area: Luciana Valle. She is a teacher of many of our local dancers and teachers. Her style is Neo Tango. Here is Luciana Valle's schedule. She will conduct several workshops at Stanford.

Igor will conduct 2 workshops on September 17 at Steppin Out dance studio in Sunnyvale. The info is here, on Igor's tango home page http://www.virtuar.com/tango/index.htm . The workshops are covering the same material ( almost ) like we have learned about back and forward ochos, and basic principles of tango. Come to revise.

September 4

Yes, the lesson will be held. What topic to take?

"8 basic steps for tango and milonga"?
or
"Wind linear moves into turns on spot, unwind basic steps into turns made in line" ?
or
"Dance Tango the milonguero way: ocho cortado"?
I incline toward "Tango the way my uncle danced in 1940".

Let us see. We will do whatever is the best for everyone.

I have found several interesing tango videos recently:
1. Tango dancers Eva Lucero and Patricio Touceda from Seattle - a beautiful professional couple. Yes, they know how to dance tango! Just look at them!
2. Robin Thomas with Brigitta Winkler and Jennifer Olson show simple but very sensitive dance.
As you can see everyone has their own style. And you will!

Lesson at 8:15, pre-lesson practice at 7:30. Welcome!

A famous modern-style teacher comes to San Francisco Bay Area: Luciana Valle. She is a teacher of many of our local dancers and teachers. Here is Luciana Valle's schedule. She will conduct several workshops at Stanford.

* * *
And what we did? A workshop "Structure, Communication, Energy". We covered steps of tango ( steps, not figures. How to make them, they are very special ! Paid special attention to collecting feet. Then principles of communication, proaction, lead & follow of basic moves: pivots, forward, back, side, and crossed steps ( steps, not figures ). And principles of generating of energy and exchanging energy waves. A couple of nice figures was introduced. This workshop covers a broad picture. In other lessons we will go deeper into each principle and expand the view more.

August 28

What is the most important for those who want to start dancing as soon as possible. Practice. 1-2 hours of practice after a lesson is absolutely essential for your ability to start great dancing. No matter what your level is.

Take advantage of our practica. Igor and Teressa are among the very best San Francisco real floor dancers. We will gladly dance with everyone attending no matter how late it is.

What is the next most important thing? We greatly encourage you to visit some of the best Bay Area Tango parties called Milongas. Do not be shy, come! If you say that you want to look what tango is they even might let you for free. There is something every day. Spend couple of hours there. Listen to music, watch the dancers, watch what they dance and how, get the feeling, get to know what tango is! This is a true show you never will find on television. Igor prepared a list of the best Bay Area Milongas for you: http://www.virtuar.com/tango/where.htm. ( Verdi club is closed this week on 24th.) Pick up places you like and come! You might meet us there.

Now about the next class.

It looks like it is time to refine Forward Ocho steps. The lesson will be strictly divided into 2 parts: for beginners, and for those who know Ochos and want to progress. Both parts are good for everyone. We will emphasize how to make ochos right, repeat and introduce variations into performing, especially how to get into cross, and if we have time, with intermediate side step and then into cross.

August 21

Last time we danced Run, various Side Steps with Rhythm Changes and with exit to 3-Step to Cross, and have got acquainted with Basic with a Turn. And it was a lot of fun, isn't it?

Whew, there are so many things, and we could go on and on.. Let us repeat as much as we can. And will see where we can get from there.

* * *
And what we did. Many new people came, so we repeated the last workshop expanding it a little to 6 ways to walk forward, Lead to Cross with the Stop on 3,  Run, and Side Steps with Rhythm Changes.

August 14.

I'll be there at 7:30 so come. But please, let Igor know in advance that you are coming: 510-582-8711, or 510-610-8711, or ipolk@virtuar.com.

Teressa is back from her vacation. Hurrah!

Last lesson we have discovered the rhythmical difference between 8-count basic and 7-count basic, for men:

8-count: Step-step-pause, step-step-pause, step-step-pause...
7-count: Step-doubleStep, step-step-step-doubleStep...

Do not try to associate it with actual counts, in tango "counts" are very approximate - timing a rhythmical pattern is totally up to a leader and his perception and interpretation of music.

In between figures it is possible to make just straight forward steps. It is called "Run" in Tango. If you put a rhythm on top of them, they become nice and easy figures. Let us learn simplest of them.

During that we will start learning one more type of the lead: with contra-body move. ( Sounds too scientific, but it is really nothing when you know what it is..)

Then, one more basic step. A little modification is introduced: a little turn of the woman after step 2. It feels like 8-count, but 3-step-to-cross ( a central part of the figure ) may become like in 7-count. There are 3 types of woman's move during the turn. One includes a little boleo. We will see what we can do.

Then - dancing time. Let us dance what we know to several types of tango music.

Please, do not be late, so we can start on time ! Be there at 8:00 !! Or even 7:30 !!!

So..

All-levels lesson 8:15pm, Practica 9:45 - 12:00..
Welcome!

PS: For your reference, our previous dancing sequence is:

  • Salida and 3-step-to-cross of the 8-Count Basic;
  • Forward Ochos with "pulling in a foot";
  • Resolution;
  • 7-Count Cross Basic;
  • Backward and Forward Ochos with stops in transition;
  • Sandwich ( Mordida );
  • Cunita;
  • Corte and Quebrada.

PSS. I have some info where to get dancing shoes. Look into Resources.
If you want to find all information about tango in San Francisco <-- it is here!

August 7.

I think we have this time for now. Weather is good, so I expect karate-ists to train outside. So come at 7:30 to get extra 30 minutes of personal advice or just practice. But please, let Igor know in advance that you are coming: 510-582-8711, or 510-610-8711, or ipolk@virtuar.com.

Let us concentrating on forward Ochos this time. We should make them better, feel more pleasant, and we will learn 2 ways to finish the Mordida figure. They are related to forward ochos. On the way we will recall 8- and 7-count basics.

Here is the new dance sequence:

  • Salida and 3-step-to-cross of the 8-Count Basic;
  • Forward Ochos with "pulling in a foot";
  • Resolution;
  • 7-Count Cross Basic;
  • Backward and Forward Ochos with stops in transition;
  • Sandwich ( Mordida );
  • Cunita;
  • Corte and Quebrada.

Before the lesson starts, we will dance our little stand-alone tango dance, and what I'd like to do, some "conditioning" of steps and connection between dancers.

Here is a new link to a collection of tango dances on the interent: http://users.pandora.be/Tango-E-Vita/tango/GalloCiego.htm. It has 6 performances by the best Argentine dancers to the same music: Gallo Ciego and a wonderful streettango clip: this is Orillero style of dancing.
Be careful, the page containes pop-us.

PS. I have some info where to get dancing shoes. Look into Resources.
If you want to find all information about tango in San Francisco <-- it is here!

July 31 .

I'd like to start with the 30 min extra time available. As it was mentioned in the last message, (and it worked well last time), we can use the fact that our Karate neighbours practice outside these days. Come at 7:30 to get extra 30 minutes of personal advice! It is expesially good for beginners to introduce them to the dance. It is free, by the way. But please, let Igor know in advance that you are coming: 510-582-8711, or 510-610-8711, or ipolk@virtuar.com.

Last time hot weather was expected, so not many people came. The lesson was good, but we should proceed with the 7-count Cross Basic step, so that everyone knows it. Therefore, the plan stays the same. It turned out that both new elements were grasped easy. We are sure we can elaborate a little more on that wonderful steps, which are themselves can be danced and danced.. They are good in slow motion, as well as done fast - for milonga.

Here we come again:

Let us learn two new little figures. The first is a modification of the 8-Count Basic figure. So called "Cross Basic". It has 7 counts, but done sequentially it is actually 6.5-Count. How? Will see. Another one is a very little, but nice element done with forward ochos: pulling in a foot. These 2 important elements will become parts of the dance sequence.

And we will repeat the new dance sequence:

  • Salida and 3-step-to-cross of the 8-Count Basic;
  • Forward Ochos with "pulling in a foot";
  • Resolution;
  • 7-Count Cross Basic;
  • Backward and Forward Ochos with stops in transition;
  • Sandwich ( Mordida );
  • Cunita;
  • Corte and Quebrada.

Before the lesson starts, we will dance our little stand-alone tango dance.

July 24 .

Another one is a very little, but nice element done with forward ochos: pulling in a foot. These 2 important elements will become parts of the dance sequence.

  • Sandwich ( Mordida );
  • Cunita;
  • Corte and Quebrada.

Before the lesson starts, we will dance our little stand-alone tango dance.

July 17.

In the first part of the lesson we will work on the quality of woman's step backward: making your body and a leg like a spring, and practicing parallel and crossed steps in more straight direction ( Gentlemen, changes of the legs! ). Even though this part is simple, it is advanced material also, so ladies, please, do not be late!

In the second part of the lesson let us continue memorizing and perfecting our sequence:

  • 8-Count Basic ( with Salida, 3-step-to-cross, and Resolution );
  • Backward and Forward Ochos with stops in transition;
  • Sandwich; ( Mordida in Argentinean - ukus, I like it more and I will tell you why)
  • Cunita;
  • Corte and Quebrada.

Whew! Wow!

Before the lesson starts, we will dance our little stand-alone tango dance.

Last time we had a nice little workshop on the art of step and feeling the partner.

This Monday, July 10, let us continue revising. We will put our dance together: 8-Count Basic and back and front Ochos with Sandwich, the fugrues we revised the last time. Then we will add several Corte figures we have learned. They are simple, so we might add a Quebrada and/or something else.

Next Monday is July 3. A long weekend.

I do not know how many people are going to leave the city for vacation, so, if we have a complete class, we will continue revising. We will put our dance together: 8-Count Basic and back and front Ochos with Sandwich. Then we will add several Corte figures we have learned. They are simple, so we might add a Quebrada and/or something else.

If we do not have enough people, let us leave Cortes revision for the next time. Let us practice more the art of step, lead and follow, listening to a partner and music. We can have more personal attention to these matters.

See you there!

Next tango - on June 26.

Let us continue revising. Several people proposed an idea that we should make a sequence of figures we have learned, so we can remember what we learn well. Let us do it!

So the next time to the basic 8-cound figure we will add back ochos and the sandwich ( Mordida, Ukusik ) revision making a dance total of 3 figures. Well see if we can add more. You already know how to modify and change the figures to accommodate to the line of dance around the room and to other dancers around, we will continue to work on that all the time. Of course, our goal is not to march with memorized patters, but to create nice dance feeling. The sequence will help us to have a good basis of what we have learned and go further from there.

I'd like to ask you about suggestions how to welcome a new couple. There was one nice couple visiting us the last time, but I do not think they felt comfortable between us, already quite advanced dancers working on quite an advanced material. ( Remember yourself the first time? ). We are trying to build the lessons so it could be useful for all levels, but it still might look very challenging for newcomers. We should find out how to convince them that if they continue, they will definitely pick it up - with help of all of us around.

Back to dancing. The following is a reminder about a tango event in our neighborhood:

"A great Tango event is going to happen in Bay Area: A Tango Festival: "Nora Tango Week". Check the website. There are a lot of really good famous Argentinean dancers coming to teach and perform. It lasts from June 30 till July 8. There are performances and classes every day. All the best dancers will perform at the final Gala Milonga on July 8 where everyone will perform. The cost of the ticket is $35. "

Next tango - on June 19.

We have got quite a lot of material, let us do some revising.

For the beginner's part, we will find out more about tango poses and try some of them. Pose like for a picture!

Then, let us start revising with be basic 8-count. We will learn how to do it in the shorten form too. Then we will see if we have time to go from there to other figures. And of course, we will recall the last lesson about cortes.

So, it is at 8:15.

I forgot to mention a great Tango event which is going to happen in Bay Area: A Tango Festival. Check the website. There are a lot of really good famous Argentinean dancers coming to teach and perform. It lasts from June 30 till July 8. There are performances and classes every day.

I myself is looking for the final Gala Milonga on July 8 where everyone will perform. Alla wants to go too. If more people want to go to this dance let us go together. The cost of the ticket is $35.  I will have to get the group reservation as soon as possible, so if you are interested, please, bring the money this Monday. ( Of course, you can buy the tickets yourself or go at other days - there is no discount for a group for one evening, but there is a discount for multiple evenings, please, check the site for details ).

June 12, 2006

The next, we will get acquainted with a step "Corte". This is one of the most basic and most important elements in tango. With simple Corte any walk is transformed instantly into a dance.

Our goal is to learn the simple one, but I will show you how it can be used to change direction of the walk, be combined with Quebrada, and some more exciting things.

Some time ago I was talking to my uncle, 82 years old about how they danced tango before WWII. He's shown me an example and even sung 2 tangos: in Russian and in German. His wife, my aunt, danced tango since she was 15, but uncle said that my mom was better :).

So, in his dance I have recognized Cortes, simple form of Quebrada, so called "American salida" ( we know that, I will remind you ), and half-turns.

So, the lesson 8:15! We'll start showing the figure to you as soon as you come.

And then, of course, practica at 9:45-.

Oh, by the way. A great Tango event is going to happen in Bay Area: A Tango Festival. Check the website. There are a lot of really good famous Argentinean dancers coming to teach and perform. I myself is looking for the final Gala Milonga where everyone will perform. I was talking to the organizer, but she did not give a discount for a group for one milonga. But if several people decide to go to the several events, we might get one.

Last Monday, on Memorial Day it turned out that we had something which is called a "workshop".  We went deeply in a specific topic of back ochos feeling the partner, and work hard on that. That is the difference between workshops and lessons: a lesson will be more fun, workshop is harder but results are stronger. Thank you all the participants! Our feeling is that we all made good progress.

So this Monday (at 8:15), let us have fun with a new pretty simple but very interesting figure which in free translation from Tango Language is called a "Bite", ( Ukusik. Kusat'sja my budem nogami :). The figure is just a figure. What we really going to find is a new way of stopping. For those who already know something about it, you will find out how easy and cool our technique is. How well it feels!

Along the way, we will remember back ochos a little. If you was not able to come last Monday because of Memorial Day, it is ok, we will definitely go through that important material again bit by bit with new interpretations.

It looks like we really did well at the last lesson!

Next time, on May 22, let us make another lesson about forward ochos (vos'merki vpered ). I'd like to have the same lesson like we did, so if you have not learned it before, you will learn it in just one lesson! And we will learn some more advanced variations which will expand our dancing abilities.

Forward ochos are great fun and very tango!

No matter what we do, and we do a lot, it progresses us toward the good dancing. As you probably have noticed, every little thing we practice before, grows to something important and exciting.

Tomorrow, on Monday May 15, let us continue to work with steps, and our feeling of the partner.

Also, let us come back to the basic step: Salida (beginning), 3-step-to-cross and Resolution ( tango close ). We will recall how to do it nicely, and will do it a little differently with the material we have learned at the last lessons. It will give us one more ability to turn left around the room.

If you do not remember the basic step, it is a good time to learn it.

This basic step in Argentine Tango called "8 count basic" is not a very basic step. It is a structural basis of the dance. We have considered the structural basis of tango on the large level: when couples go around the room. Now it is a smaller level: level of figures.

Last lesson we have learned how tango dancers progress around the floor and what to do to turn left around the room.

Let us at the next lesson, on May 8, look more closely at some moves helping us to turn left.

Tango is about about feeling of steps and embrace first of all. I think it is time to come back to it and make it feel nicer. Then we can apply it to the steps we have learned.

We are going slowly but surely to the complete tango dance.
Tango dancers in the dance progress around the floor. It is one of the things which make the dance interesting. To do so, as well as to share the dancefloor with other dancers we should know how to change the direction we are going.

Let us make our next meeting about it. We learn several simple elements helping moving to the right or to the left, and more.

That was fun, wasn't it!
Now, on April 24, we will learn ochos. All sorts of ochos, sizes, and types.

An ocho is a woman's figure swirling around the floor, but men should lead it!

Last lesson was good, we have learned a lot.
I think the next class on April 17 should be

"How to make a dance with those steps we already know, no matter how many."

It seems to me it should be some surprises, let ut see...

So today, on April 3:

The first part of the lesson from 8:15 till 9:00. Along with various steps, we will practice more that 3-step to cross and learn some new important clues on it.

In the second part of the lesson from 9:00 till 9:45 we will modify the basic step to the second way of doing it, and then mix it with ochos we practiced before. We did not do it last time as planned, but now it seems to me we can make it.

Next Tango is on April 3.

The first part of the lesson from 8:15 till 9:00. Progressing toward better steps, we'll learn what "flying steps" are. In fact, most woman's back steps should be "flying". We will practice simple dance figures, and especially forward steps, which means back steps for women.

In the second part of the lesson from 9:00 till 9:45 we will modify the basic step to the second way of doing it, and then mix it with ochos.

Next Tango is on March 27. It looks like we have assembled the knowledge for a pretty complete Argentine Tango dance. This is a milestone! Now we are going to polish it, improve it.

So:
The first part of the lesson from 8:15 till 9:00 will be about a woman's posture and quality of steps. We will revise what we know about "3-step to cross".

In the second part of the lesson from 9:00 till 9:45 we will revise our last-lesson ochos, and learn a new cool very easy boleo trick.

Next Tango is on March 13. It looks like the structure of the last lesson worked well, so we will continue the dancing and dare to venture into a new exciting step: Boleo. We already tried it a little, but now it will be incorporated into the figure. And we will not forget about our "8-count basic" step.

So:
The first part of the lesson from 8:15 till 9:00 will be about making our legs free and basic dancing.

In the second part of the lesson from 9:00 till 9:45 we will do the Boleo. I think it is pretty simple.

Please, everybody, come at 8:15 sharp, we will start right away!

At 9:45 everyone can practice what we have learned, or dance. I encourage everyone to try it with other partners. At least a couple of circles around the floor. You can do it! It is very important for us.

In a nushell, all-levels lesson 8:15pm, Practica 9:45,
Welcome!

missed.

-----------------
It looks like we matured a little which is great and very promising! So, to make it more comfortable, we'll make the next class on February 27 like this:

The first part of the lesson from 8:15 till 9:00 will be about walking, basic leading and following. It is to accommodate the need of our very beginners. This part is for everyone, not only for new people!

In the second part of the lesson from 9:00 till 9:45 we will continue to work on the "8-count basic" figure to contribute to the progress of our already more advanced dancers. If you do not know about this yet, do not hesitate, you can practice what you have learned in the previous hour.

Please, everybody, come at 8:15 sharp, we will start right away! There will be no more warming up. Leave home 10 minutes earlier!

At 9:45 everyone can practice what we have learned, or dance. I encourage everyone, we are all friends here, to do it with other partners. At least a couple of circles around the floor. You can do it! It is very important for us.

So, all-levels lesson 8:15pm, Practica 9:45.

On Feb 20, we will come back to the simple tango steps: forward, side, and back, and how to lead and follow it. Then we apply it to the most important tango figure. The last lesson was more for men, the next one will be more for women. After the lesson we will go around and while you practicing, we will attend you with an individual advice.

All-levels lesson 8:15pm, Practica 9:30 .

До сих пор мы изучали то, что пригодится в любом танце. В следующий раз, Feb 6, мы узнаем о двух специфических движениях Аргентинского Танго.

How to lead to cross

So far we have learned things useful in any dance. The next time, on Feb 6, we will learn 2 moves which are characteristic of Argentine Tango.

В прошлый раз мы закрутились, а теперь будем выкручиваться. Итак, 5 шагов и закрутка - вот и вся танго азбука. Далее будут слова, предложения, абзацы и рассказы.
